Well, the inevitable happened and I ran out of my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation. While it was amazing in the beginning, I did find that the texture of the foundation changed the longer I had the bottle, so I thought I’d try something new. After scouring Sephora, I thought I’d try Lancome’s Teint Idole Ultra 24H Makeup as my next medium-to-full coverage foundation. My shade is 110 Ivoire C, which actually isn’t the lightest color for once. In fact, I was immediately impressed by the fact that this product comes in a whopping 40 shades!
When I first bought this foundation, I honestly hated it. I felt like it looked like it was just sitting on my face. My pores looked super noticeable and it just didn’t blend well. Since it’s a $47 foundation, I was really frustrated that I didn’t love it as much on my face as I had when I’d tested the texture on my hand in the store. So, I decided to try a few things with the product.
First, this product absolutely needs to be applied over a primer. I’ve tried several different primers with this foundation and they all worked well. Ultimately, it just needs the base of a foundation to help it look more natural.
Also, this is not the kind of foundation that can be applied with your fingers or a foundation brush. When I try with my fingers, I feel like I’m just spreading it around and it’s not blending well. When I try with a foundation brush, it leaves weird streaks. However, the finish actually looks really great if you apply it with a wet beauty blender. It makes a world of difference!
So, I’ve decided that I actually really love this foundation, but only if I’m using a primer with it and applying it with a beauty blender. Still, that seems fair enough. The coverage is great and evens out my skin tone. It also really does last all day. Will I repurchase it when I’ve used it up? I’m honestly not sure. I think I’m still looking for my holy grail foundation, but I’m certainly glad that I didn’t give up on it after my initial disappointment.
