Electric Toothbrushes for Dental Health and Beauty

People notice smiles. They show so much: friendliness, openness, confidence, happiness. A dazzling smile leaves a good impression, and maybe that’s why I’m kind of obsessed with dental health. I brush my teeth about four times a day, but I’m always searching for a deeper clean. Recently, I asked my dental hygienist what I could be doing better, and she gave me some great advice: No matter how good you are at brushing your teeth, an electric toothbrush is always going to do even better.

I didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on an electric toothbrush, so I headed to my local Walgreens to see what I could find. I was surprised to find the Walgreens Oral Care Power Toothbrush Kit for only $9. This kit comes with a toothbrush, 2 batteries, 2 replacement heads, 20 floss heads, and a gum stimulator. That’s a lot of stuff for under $10, so I thought I’d give it a chance.

I’ve had the toothbrush for about a month now, and I love it. The small brush head is great because it can really get into any crevice of the mouth. I really do feel like I get an even better clean with this toothbrush set. My only complaint is that I’ve already had to replace the batteries (and 2 batteries every month will eventually get pricier). If you’re interested in seeing if an electric toothbrush will work better for you, I definitely recommend this starter set, but I think in the future I’m going to get a rechargeable option that I can just plug in.

Do you have a favorite toothbrush? Do you prefer manual or electric? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Thanks for reading!

  1. What are your thoughts on a water pick? I have recently purchased one and it is a true learning curve in using it!

  2. Registered Dental Hygienist here! I recently tried the BURST brush subscription service and I love it! If you want to check it out, I have a coupon code JUDUNW that gets you $30 off at check out. You and any of your readers are free to check it out!

  3. These ARE great but I killed my enamel with one. There are two CRUCIAL things people do wrong- one is over brushing, don’t do it for more than 2 minutes twice a day. Use a soft bristled brush if you want to brush three. Do NOT brush right after a meal (wait 15 minutes for your mouth to neutralize) and most importantly, do not (NOT) push down. The brush should just rest on your teeth. GREAT article, though.
