Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

Beauty Blenders have a cult following, and for good reason, but the $20 price tag can feel steep, especially when you have to repurchase every few months. I thought I would try a less expensive sponge to see how the results compare, so I picked up the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. This product can be purchased at Target and similar retailers for about $5. I spent about $8 for one that came with a case.

This product claims that you can use it both wet and dry, but like a beauty blender, it really does work better when it’s slightly damp. I will say that it does a good job, although it’s not as good as a beauty blender. Even when damp, the sponge feels a bit more stiff than I’d like, but I do like that it isn’t completely egg-shaped. It has several different edges to choose from that can fit in any contour of the face.

Overall, I really liked this sponge. While it doesn’t work as well as a beauty blender, I was still impressed. It’s about a fourth of the cost but works almost as well, and I think I’m going to be buying these from now on instead.

Have you tried a sponge other than the beauty blender? What are your thoughts? Be sure to let me know in the comments section!

Thanks for reading!

  1. I love the real techniques body sponge. It is huge. The only sponges I use is only real techniques. Great post!

  2. I tried this sponge last year before I finally caved in and bought a beauty blender. I didn’t care for it much, and then once I tried the beauty blender, I really didn’t care for it! It is definitely a less expensive option. I am glad it is working for you! Thank you for sharing your review! 🙂

  3. I didn’t test the original beauty blender. I tested the mini ones and they are great for blending your contour and concealer. I like the Real Techniques one for foundation only but it doesn’t do any justice to my councealer and crease…
It’s great that it works for you. ☺
