I want to start off by thanking all of you who have been with me during the 3 year journey of this blog. It’s been a really fun ride, but I think it’s time for me to make a big change.
It’s time for me to say goodbye to Haute Couture Society and the beauty blogger lifestyle. To be frank, it’s become really stressful constantly chasing an audience. I’ve wanted to be a writer ever since I can remember, but blogging has made me focus more on quantity than quality. While I’ve loved trying new products and trends and sharing that experience with all of you, I’ve also been growing in a different direction. I don’t want to look at social media as a job anymore, and I want to reconnect with writing fiction and poetry.
Thank you to all of the companies that have sent me products to try. In my place, I know you’ll find lots of wonderful beauty bloggers that saturate this great community.
I know that this may seem sudden, and it may seen very flaky considering the New Years Resolutions I made just two weeks ago, but sometimes resolutions are just an attempt to trick ourselves into doing something we don’t really want to do. Over the past six months, I’ve been growing a lot as a person and my interests are evolving. Unfortunately, I don’t have unlimited amounts of time and energy, so this is a facet of my life that I need to change. I’ll still be blogging from time to time at my other website, which kind of acts like an online writing resume. Feel free to follow me over there, but just be warned that there will be more horror movie reviews and fewer lipstick reviews in that space.
I’m hoping that this change will feel liberating. I have a full-time job, and it’s been rough trying to blog 3-5 times a week while working and maintaining a social life. Often, I don’t have time to relax in the evening or even work on my fiction.
Well, this open letter is starting to feel self-indulgent, so I’m going to wrap it up with a final thought: I think that maybe (for me) growing up means focusing on smaller, more realistic goals instead of constantly bouncing from dream to dream.
Thanks again to all of you, and farewell for now.
