Fashion Friday: Dress the Population Charlie Sequin Jumpsuit

Do you want to really stand out this holiday season? Well, then have I got the jumpsuit for you! Just take a look at the Charlie Sequin Jumpsuit from Dress the Population. This piece is available at Nordstrom for $318.

This jumpsuit is gorgeous! It looks so streamlined and slimming, and the multi-colored sequins are absolutely mesmerizing. I feel like this jumpsuit is the ultimate jumpsuit, and I really wish I could pull it off. Unfortunately, at 5’2″, there’s just no way that this would be right with my proportions. I wonder if it comes in a romper?

Would you be brave enough to wear this jumpsuit? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

One final note…tomorrow is December 1st, which means I’ll be starting Blogmas! This year, I have Sephora’s (sold-out) Enchanted Castle advent calendar, so stay tuned for 24 days of short reviews/videos all about this advent calendar!

Feel Beauty Harmony Rose Petal Face Mask

It feels like it’s been a while since I reviewed a face mask! I looked through my samples and found one that looked interesting: the Feel Beauty Harmony Rose Petal Face Mask. This product retails online for $55.

This is a really nice gel face mask. It is rose-scented, and the scent seems super natural and not at all artificial. The gel has a great cooling sensation on the skin and works to gently moisturize the skin. This is a great, vegan, moisturizing mask that reminded me a lot of the Fresh Rose Face Mask. Overall, this is a fun mask for a spa day. It smells great and adds a boost of moisture. However, I don’t think I’ll be purchasing the full-size when this sample is up. There are so many cheaper rose mask options that seem to work just as well.

What is your favorite face mask scent? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Benefit Gimme Brow+

I love trying new eyebrow products. Back in highschool, I definitely overplucked my brows, but now I’m loving the bolder brow trend. I find that I often get tired of my 3-step brow process though, so I was excited to try the Benefit Gimme Brow+ which promised to streamline the brow grooming process. This product is available at Sephora and similar retailers for $24.

This product is a brow-volumizing fiber gel which fills in your brows with just one swipe of a tiny spooly brush. It contains microfibers and tinted gel which blend seamlessly into the brow. At first, I was afraid that it wouldn’t really speed up the process if it ended up taking too much time to brush and blend in, but I was so pleasantly surprised! Before this product, this was my brow routine: I brushed my brows before applying a pencil or powder to fill in the brows and would finish with a clear gel. However, this product really does combine all of those steps perfectly. I swipe this over my brows and they are instantly brushed, tinted, and set. Instead of my brows taking 5 minutes in the morning, they literally just take seconds! Overall, I am loving this product! I’ll definitely be purchasing the full-size when this sample runs out.

Happy Black Friday!! Are you looking forward to all the holiday sales? What are you going to buy?

I have had my eye on some special earrings for a while now: the Kate Spade Mini Small Square Stud Earrings which retail at Nordstrom for only $32.  I’m not normally a fan of gold, but I love this glitter/color combination.

I feel like these are small enough to wear everyday if I wanted to, but they’re also really festive, so they would be great for a holiday party too! What can I say, I’m such a sucker for glitter!

YSL Tatouage Couture Matte Stain

Lip stains kind of scare me. I’ve tried so many over the years, and I tend to be consistently disappointed by residual dryness and flakiness. So, when I recently received a sample of the Yves Saint Laurent Tatouage Couture Matte Stain, I was prepared to hate it but was pleasantly surprised! This product is sold at Sephora and similar retailers for $37.

I received the shade “16 Nude Emblem” which is a really pretty neutral pink that seems to enhance my natural lip color. It has a very lightweight quality to it and a kind of watery texture which makes it apply easily onto the lips. It’s opaque and only requires one coat of product, but it kind of sits atop the lips like paint. The lightweight nature makes it less likely to settle into lines in the  mouth (although it still helps to exfoliate the lips before application). Unlike most stains, it also seems to fade pretty evenly (although I did have to reapply after eating). In terms of dryness, my lips did feel a bit drier after using this product, but they were not uncomfortable. Overall, I think this is a great lip stain. It’s easy to apply and doesn’t dry down too much. However, I think lip stain aficionados will be disappointed in its lasting power.

Sunday Riley Space Race

It’s no secret that I still have acne even though I’m 27. The type of acne has definitely changed over the years. Now, it mostly seems hormonal (although I do find that certain greasy foods break me out a bit too). Because of my changing skincare needs, I decided to try some new kinds of products and buy the Sunday Riley Space Race collection which retails for $65 at Sephora.

This kit comes with three great Sunday Riley products that target acne. The products are not full-sized but they are large enough that you’ll probably be able to get about 2-3 months worth of use to help you make a decision before buying the very expensive full-sized versions.

The first product in this kit is the UFO Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil (the full-size retails for $80). This is my favorite of the three! It has some powerhouse ingredients like salicylic acid, tee tree oil, licorice, neroli, chamomile, and cucumber seed oil. This amazing combination is great at gently counteracting hormonal acne, moisturizing the skin, and fixing mild skin discoloration. This is a product I’ve used before and it’s very clear that it works for me, so I’ll definitely be purchasing the full-sized version when this one runs out. The only downside is that it smells strongly of oregano (which I don’t prefer) and my skin does tend to look a bit greasy if I use too much (which is why it is only part of my nighttime skincare routine).

The next product in this kit is the Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner (the full-size retails for $55). I’m enjoying this product too! It comes out as a cooling green gel that blends really well into the skin. In my Sephora Haul Video, I joked that it kind of feels like alien snot (and I stand by that!) but I do love how it soothes my skin. It has some great ingredients: witch hazel, cucumber, black cumin, clay, marshmallow, and green tea. It feels extremely gentle on the skin and I like the cooling sensation too. It absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves my skin feeling both moisturized and mattified. I have combination skin where some bits feel dry but my t-zone can get oily, and this is just the perfect product for me because it moisturizes where I need it while combatting oil and creating a smooth canvas for my makeup. To be honest, I’ve replaced my morning moisturizer AND primer with this product, so I will definitely be purchasing the full-size version of this one too!

The final product in this kit is the Saturn Sulfur Acne Treatment Mask (the full-size retails for $55). This mask contains sulfur, tea tree oil, clay, and manuka oil to combat acne without drying the skin out too much. I will say that sulfur is an amazing ingredient for acne, and I do find that this one clears up stubborn zits pretty quickly if I use it as a spot treatment. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised that it hasn’t dried out my skin as many sulfur-based products do. However, I just can’t purchase the full-size version of this product. Sulfur smells awful, and I hoped that I’d be able to deal with it for the sake of my skin, but I just can’t. I hate getting a whiff of the scent even after I’ve washed it off, and the smell even lingers on the towel I use to dry my face after washing this off. Overall, it’s a great product, and it’s not Sunday Riley’s fault that sulfur naturally smells so bad, but I just have found that I can’t stomach it.

So, what sorts of products do you find work best for your hormonal acne? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!
