Benefit Gimme Brow+

I love trying new eyebrow products. Back in highschool, I definitely overplucked my brows, but now I’m loving the bolder brow trend. I find that I often get tired of my 3-step brow process though, so I was excited to try the Benefit Gimme Brow+ which promised to streamline the brow grooming process. This product is available at Sephora and similar retailers for $24.

This product is a brow-volumizing fiber gel which fills in your brows with just one swipe of a tiny spooly brush. It contains microfibers and tinted gel which blend seamlessly into the brow. At first, I was afraid that it wouldn’t really speed up the process if it ended up taking too much time to brush and blend in, but I was so pleasantly surprised! Before this product, this was my brow routine: I brushed my brows before applying a pencil or powder to fill in the brows and would finish with a clear gel. However, this product really does combine all of those steps perfectly. I swipe this over my brows and they are instantly brushed, tinted, and set. Instead of my brows taking 5 minutes in the morning, they literally just take seconds! Overall, I am loving this product! I’ll definitely be purchasing the full-size when this sample runs out.

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

Having nice eyebrows is definitely important because brows frame the face. Often, brows need to be filled in. They can get kind of sparse if you pluck a lot (guilty!) Also, as hair greys or goes white, eyebrows seem to disappear, and filling them in can be an easy way to get them back. Recently, I tried the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil Mini which can be purchased from Sephora for $12.

This really is “Goof Proof” as the name says. The formula of this product is very light and blends so easily. It’s almost impossible to apply too much of the product, which is fantastic because it’s really distracting when brows are overfilled. I was so impressed with this product, and I ended up giving it to my aunt who wanted to fill in her brows but who didn’t want to have to put too much time into it every day. This is definitely a great product if you’re on the run or don’t have much time in the morning.

Blogmas Day 19: Universal Brow Freeze

It’s Day 19 of Blogmas and today’s advent calendar panel revealed a new goodie: The Sephora Universal Brow Freeze. This product appears to no longer be available, but there is still a tinted version that you can pick up for $12.

I’m kind of torn about this product. On the one hand, the waxy texture really did tame my brows and make them stay in place all day. However, it also pulled out some eyebrow hairs all three times I’ve tried it. That could definitely be a problem over time. Still, it’s an interesting and effective concept, and I’m curious what similar products are offered by other brands.

L’Oréal Brow Stylist Kabuki Blender

In high school and college, my brows were a little overplucked and thin. Lately, however, I’ve been embracing bold brows and enjoying using different products to fill them out. Recently, I tried the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Kabuki Blender. This product can be purchased from Target and similar retailers for about $9.

There are two sides to this product: a flat, dense brush on the one end and a creamy brown crayon for pigmentation. Overall, while I’ve been liking more defined, bold brows, this is just a bit too much for me. The crayon portion adds a lot more pigmentation than I expected. I prefer brow products with a lighter texture that I can build up for my desired look, but this one is just a streak of bold drama that is hard to blend. The blending brush on the other end is kind of awkward to use, but maybe that’s just because I’m so used to brow products having a spooly on the end instead of a flat brush. After a lot of practice, I think I have a handle on this and I can make it work, but I definitely won’t be repurchasing this one. It’s just such a dense product and it’s more noticeable than I prefer. Also, the difficulty with blending knocks it down on my list too. I would only suggest this one to someone who REALLY wants extremely bold brows.
