NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

A good concealer is hard to come by, especially when you have a lot of things to cover up. From dark circles to zits to acne scars to mild redness, I have a lot that I don’t want the world to see. However, my skin can get kind of dry in the winter, so I need a concealer that is thick but not drying as so many thick concealers can be. Recently, I picked up a small size of the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in “Vanilla.” This small size is $13, but the full-size is $30. This product is available at Sephora and similar retailers.

I love the level of coverage that this product provides. Its a medium-coverage that can definitely be built up to a full coverage. It also seems to last all day whether or not I put a finishing powder atop it. The light texture makes it just perfect to all of my imperfections. I often find that a good undereye concealer won’t hold up against a nasty zit, but this one can cover it all. I’m super impressed, and I’ll definitely be buying the full-size when this one is used up!

NARS Orgasm Infatuation Palette

I am finding myself obsessed again with contouring. I love working with light and shadows to help create an optical illusion with my makeup to look just a bit better (slightly more angular and alive). During the summer, I find that I use cream products for contouring, but now that winter is coming, I wanted to find a powder alternative. During the latest Sephora sale, I decide to indulge a bit and buy a fantastic palette: the NARS Orgasm Infatuation Palette which is a limited edition Sephora exclusive that retails for $42.

This product is mentioned in my Sephora Holiday Sale YouTube Video – so definitely check that out for more first impressions!

First off, I adore the packaging with this product. It is so shiny and textured and interesting. However, that’s nothing compared to the amazing performance of the actual product. Now, I’m a very pale person, but these shades are nearly universally flattering, so even I can pull off this bronzer without looking muddy. The NARS Laguna bronzer is great for contouring because it adds depth without sparkle. This matte brown with no orange undertones is great for contouring the nose and under the cheekbones because the shade will create natural shadows (unlike some orangey or glittery bronzer which might actually make you look a bit swollen where you want to create depth and shadow).

The Orgasm blush is a beautiful pinky coral that looks like a natural flush of color which blends so well into the apples of the cheeks. It’s complemented nicely with the accompanying Orgasm highlighter which adds some great light and is a slightly warm champagne (but it’s not too warm – so even my cool complexion reacts well to it).

The powders in this palette are fantastic. They’re finely milled and blend very well. All of the shades apply lightly and can be built up as much as you’d like. That makes this the perfect product for even beginners to contouring because it allows for such control. Overall, I just can’t recommend this palette enough!

Sephora Holiday Sale Haul!

This was a great year for the Sephora Holiday Sale! I got some products that I am loving, so I just had to share a video with some of my thoughts and impressions (also, I think this thumbnail that YouTube picked is hilarious, so I kept it as is because I feel like it’s a pretty accurate facial expression for when I’m excited lol):

Here are the products mentioned in the video:

NARS Orgasm Infatuation Palette: This palette contains the Laguna bronzing powder, Orgasm blush, and Orgasm highlighting powder ($42).

Urban Decay Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette: This palette has 12 amazing eyeshadow shades in some gorgeous pinks, purples, and reds ($49).

Sunday Riley Space Race Collection: This set contains the Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner, the UFO Acne Treatment Face Oil, and the Saturn Sulfur Acne Treatment Mask ($65).

I’m hoping to do more in-depth reviews after I’ve had more of a chance to play around with these products!

Did you participate in the holiday sale? What did you get?? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Best Red Lips for the 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day if you’re an American like me! (If not, well then happy Tuesday!) What better way to jazz up your red, white, and blue accessories than with red lipstick? Here are my top five selections for red lips:

So, these are going to be in order from left to right in the picture. I love all of these products, so they’re not really in order of which are best out of the five since they’re all great for different reasons.

  1. Buxom Big & Sexy Gel Lipstick in Red Inferno – This is a great matte red. It’s a cool red with blue undertones (which works well for me since I have pale skin with cool undertone). This is the easiest lipstick to apply because one swipe coats the lips with perfectly even, brightly pigmented color. It also lasts a long time without drying out the lips.
  2. Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick – The shade I love isn’t made anymore, so I’ve linked to the most similar shade (SR43 We Have to Talk). I have several of these lipsticks in various colors because they’re creamy and have a nice satin finish. They’re not glossy or matte but are somewhere in between. The finish is just so nice, although they don’t last as long as other lipsticks.
  3. MAC Limited Edition Lipstick in True Love’s Kiss – This lipstick is also not currently available because it was a limited edition that came out with the Maleficent movie. I just had to get it because Maleficent is my favorite Disney villain! Still, if you haven’t tried MAC lipsticks, they are amazing! They are so comfortable on the lips and last a long time. Check out their iconic red (which is slightly darker than this one) Ruby Woo.
  4. Sephora Oil Infusion Color & Care in 05 Cherry Cocktail –  I love this oil! It looks really pigmented in the picture, but it’s actually really sheer on the lips. I wear this all the time for minimal makeup days. It’s so pretty, and it also really moisturizes the lips. It goes on like a gloss, but it’s not at all sticky. Right now, they’re half-off at Sephora since they’re clearance-priced now, so be sure to snag one for $7 before they’re all gone! (I’ve already bought two spares lol)
  5. NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella – This is definitely the darkest, vampiest color of the bunch. It is super long-wearing (and it does honestly dry the lips out a bit). I love this scarlet, dramatic look, especially when it’s paired with winged eyeliner. The pencil structure makes this easy to apply, and a little goes a long way.

Well, whether you’re rocking a red lip or just lip balm, I hope you have a great day!

IT Cosmetics Contour Palette

I am obsessed with palettes because they are so convenient. I have been searching for quite a while for a good contour palette that contained powder products and would work with my cool-toned pale complexion. After much shopping, I found the perfect thing at Ulta: IT Cosmetics Your Most Beautiful You Anti-Aging Face Palette.

This palette was $38, but it has an enormous amount of product in each pan. These are very buildable colors that definitely work on my pale skin, but they will also work well on skin much tanner than mine. I love the cool tones that work well with my complexion. This reminds me of my old palette from NARS which had almost identical shades but was much smaller and much more expensive. Even the quality of the pigments and textures reminds me of NARS, although I have to say that I prefer this palette. These powders glide on so effortlessly and they blend so easily! I am so excited that I found this palette because it is just perfect for my contouring needs. And another benefit – it has not broken me out in the week I’ve been using it!

What Is Wrong With Me?

I was going through my makeup and skincare to see what I wanted to review and blog about. It was a lot of fun. I found old favorites I haven’t used in a while, and I found lots of deluxe sample-sized products I still haven’t used yet that I can’t wait to try and review in the coming weeks. However, while I was going through my lip product collection, I came across this:

So much of the same!

Here we have 6 lip products that are all the exact same dusty rose shade!

-Two are Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in Bettina

-Two are Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural Lipsticks in N4 Pink Beige

-Two are Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencils in Velvet

What is wrong with me?

I don’t ever wear this color really. So, how is it that I ended up with six products that are all the same matte, neutral color. I typically only wear pinks that are much brighter or lighter than this shade, so why do I have all of these, and why do I have two identical products from these brands? I have no idea, but I feel like this has to be my subconscious trying to convince me that I can pull off this shade. Honestly, the more I look at the picture, the more I think that this would make a more professional-looking lipstick shade than most that I like. So, maybe I’ll give them a try soon and see if I think this should be a new go-to shade for my work wardrobe! (After all, most librarians do not wear glossy, sparkly, vibrant pinks, berries, and reds – thought I’ve always preferred to stand out).

I guess we’ll see. Of course, I know that another likely reason I have all of these products is that I have a more than slight addiction to shopping and makeup, but I’d rather this just be a sign that I should wear this color more often.
