Miss Dior Hair Mist

Today is a special day because it is my 27th birthday! To celebrate, I thought I’d share one of my favorite signature fragrances: Miss Dior. Recently, I purchased the Miss Dior Hair Mist from Sephora, which retails for $52. It’s a bit of a luxury since it’s only a 1 oz bottle, but I did get it in the Sephora sale, so it was 20% off!

I love the concept of a hair mist because I’m very short, and I feel that hair fragrance allows the scent to waft up. This scent is also a warm floral that seems perfect for any season. It contains bergamot which is one of my favorite fragrance notes, and it is not musky at all, so it retains a youthful quality.

Signature scents are fun because they’re like a calling card that people will associate with you. I’ve had a few signature scents in my life. It seems that as I evolve as a person, my fragrance interest also evolves. In high school, I wore Lucky You by Lucky Brand. It’s a very sweet, floral fragrance which kind of signified who I wanted to be at the time – flirty and playful. But in college, I wanted to evoke something else – I wanted to feel more mature but still be alluring. In some ways, I wanted to seem older than I was. During that period in my life, I wore Guilty by Gucci, a warmer scent with notes of amber and patchouli. Now, I think my interest in Miss Dior blends the two past scents in some way: it’s still warm and more mature, but it’s softer with its florals.

Caudalie Make-Up Removing Cleansing Oil

I’m excited to announce that I have a new favorite way to remove my makeup: the Caudalie Make-Up Removing Cleansing Oil. This product is sold at Sephora and similar retailers for $28.

There’s just something about cleansing oils that gently cuts through tough eye makeup in order to truly remove every trace. I was loving the Clinique balm, but I found that it was irritating my eyes somewhat. Every so often, my eyes would really burn after I’d removed my makeup, even if I tried to rinse everything out afterwards. Because of this, I thought I’d look for a new oil and I ended up buying this Caudalie one because I’ve been loving the Caudalie brand.

I’m really glad that I went with this product! It is so gentle but removes even really thick black liquid eyeliner and waterproof mascara with ease. It’s easy to rinse off, and I’ve never had any burning eyes after using it. Best of all, it doesn’t seem to break me out at all either. It’s the perfect first step for a double cleanse.

Do you use cleansing oil to remove your makeup? If so, what’s your favorite one? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Dior Addict Lip Lacquer

I am a red lipstick fiend, especially in autumn and winter. I’m already looking through my lipstick collection and making sure I have one for every occasion. As I was looking, I found one that I’ve had a while but have never reviewed: the Dior Addict Lacquer in American Girl (a shade that has been discontinued!) This product is sold at Sephora and similar retailers for $37 (and if you like this shade – I think that 877 Turn Me Dior is the closest current shade to this one).

I adore the original Dior Addict lipsticks – they are comfortable to wear and last most of the day. They are longwear with minimal dryness. However, the Lacquer version of the Dior Addict lipsticks dry out the lips even less than the original. I experience zero dryness with these and I still get an all-day or almost all-day color.

There is a small drawback to this Lacquer version of lipstick: it can be a bit messy. It’s as opaque as a layer of paint. Because of this, you’ll only need one coat – but you’ll need to be very careful when applying it. Also, it’s a bit wet in terms of texture but it never dries down completely. This means it is prone to smudging, especially if you’re eating something like a sandwich where you might open your mouth very wide.

That being said, I really like this lipstick. I’ve learned that it’s best to apply just a very thin layer to keep smudging to a minimum. Also, I just really love this bright cherry red shade, so I’m bummed that they’ve discontinued this particular shade. Thankfully, I’ve got a lot left though. The one I have has a satin finish, but a few of them have glitter finishes, so that’s probably what I’ll have to try next!

Have you tried this lip lacquer or another type of lacquer? How did it compare to traditional lipstick for you? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick

I often go for bold lipstick, but since I’ve been playing up my eyes recently, I’ve been trying to have more demure lips. Recently, I was going through my lipstick bag (which is overflowing again!) and I found this gem: the Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick in Taupe Beige. This product can be purchased at Sephora and similar retailers for $22.

I love that this is a perfect neutral. It never clashes with the rest of my makeup or any color of clothes I might choose to wear. It’s also a nice matte shade that sits comfortably on the lips and doesn’t dry them out. I wouldn’t say it’s very long-wearing since I’ll have to reapply it a few times throughout the day, but it’s so neutral that it’s just really easy to reapply.

Overall, I’m just loving this pretty neutral. I love that there’s a slight pink undertone that compliments my skintone, and it’s fantastic that this matte shade doesn’t settle into any lines on my lips or make my lips dry out.

Becca Champagne POP Highlighter

I love using highlighter to enhance my cheeks and add some shimmer to my skin. There are so many shade options and texture options to explore! Recently, I was able to try the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Champagne Pop. This product is available at Sephora and similar retailers for $38.

First off, this is such a pretty shade. It’s a white gold with some peach undertones, which is just a bit too warm for me. Still, if you have a more neutral or warm undertone to your skin, this will look so lovely. Icy gals like myself might need something with less peach to find our perfect highlight.

The texture of this powder is also amazing. It’s a very fine grain powder which goes on smooth and is very easy to blend. It’s also easy to build up the color in layers. Overall, this is a fantastic highlighter, and I’d love to try some of their cooler shades!

Allure Beauty Box August 2018

The Allure Beauty Box for August 2018 has arrived! This is one of my favorite beauty box subscription services. For just $15 a month, you’ll get deluxe samples and some full-sized beauty products. I love that it’s a blend of drugstore and luxury products too.

img_2461

This month’s box came with some really great stuff!

First off, we have the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet which retails for $39. This is a product I’ve used and reviewed before. It’s a fantastic lightweight moisturizer that is just perfect for sensitive skin. I highly recommend it!

Next, we have the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner which retails for $22. This is a cult favorite, but I haven’t tried it yet. I really hope it lives up to the hype.

I also received the Laritzy Cosmetics Light Stix in Halo which retails for $24. I had never heard of this brand before, but so far this has been a really great highlighter stick that blends so smoothly.

Another favorite that I’ve already reviewed is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask which retails for $20 and is worth every penny. It’s the best intensive balm I have ever used!

Next up is the Nexxus Keraphix Damage Healing Shampoo and Conditioner which retail for $17.99 a piece. I have damaged hair from too much heat and processing with dye, so I’m excited to try these for sure!

Lastly, I received a $30 off coupon for Breda, a niche watch retailer I had never heard of before. I’ve spent some time browsing their website, and there are some great options, although I’m not sure if I’ll end up getting one.

What do you think of these products? Have you tried any of them before? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Dior Backstage Foundation

The holy grail of foundations is both lightweight and high-coverage. I would love to someday find a foundation that just makes my skin look perfect without being super obvious that I’m wearing foundation. While that’s still not something that I’ve found, I have found something pretty darn close: the Dior Backstage Foundation. This product can be purchased at Sephora and similar retailers for just $40. I recently received the cutest little sample, and I’m very impressed!

img_2363

Compared to other luxury foundations, this one is practically a bargain! It also comes in 40 shades, which is a great variety. I’m so glad that foundations are becoming more and more inclusive. Also, fun fact: this is the foundation that Meghan Markle wore to the royal wedding!!

This foundation is so lightweight and blendable, but it is also very medium coverage. I was impressed by the opacity for something so weightless. It won’t cover a ginormous breakout, but it will even out the skintone and hide minor imperfections.

Regarding the finish, it is matte without being dull. I like this because it seems to work well when my skin is feeling dry and when it’s feeling oily. Like most people, my skin changes with the seasons, so I appreciate how versatile this foundation appears to be.

Also, I love that I need so little of this foundation to cover up. My teeny tiny sample is still going strong after more than two weeks of applications. I can’t imagine how long a full-sized bottle will last, but I suspect I will not be disappointed after this experience. I definitely plan on purchasing this one in the next Sephora Rouge sale (starting August 24th!).

Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Lip Gloss – Goliath Grape

I am so picky when it comes to lip gloss! I like high-shine, shimmery colors that are mid-opacity and never ever sticky! That’s a tall order for a lot of glosses, but I found one that I really love: the Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Lip Gloss in Goliath Grape. This product can be purchased from Clinique’s website and select retailers for $17.50.

img_2109.jpg

There are so many great facets to this product. Let’s take a look at them:

*Color – I like this purplish shade that’s a fun mix between a berry and a violet. It’s relatively sheer but still is very noticeable. I love that it’s not too opaque because I think that makes this one more versatile. Also, it has a lot of shimmer, which is perfect for me!

*Texture – This one is not even a teeny bit sticky, which is so ideal for a gloss. It goes on smooth and lasts for quite a while. You’ll need to reapply after eating, but that’s really standard for a gloss.

*Benefits – While this product claims to plump the lips, I didn’t see this any more than I do with any other lip gloss. Any shiny, glossy product is going to create the illusion of fullness. However, it is noticeably moisturizing, so that does set this product apart from some glosses. After a day of wearing this product, my lips still feel supple and smooth. So, this one scores some bonus points for not drying out my lips.

Overall, I loved this gloss and I would definitely try more shades in this range. Have you tried this one or do you have a favorite gloss you want to share? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Dior Glow Palette

It’s no secret that I adore Dior! Whenever they have a new product, I immediately rush out to get it. Recently, they launched their backstage collection, and I was really excited to try the Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette. This product will cost you $45 at Sephora and similar retailers.

So, first things first, this is NOT a contour palette. It’s not marketed as one either, but I know some people get confused when it comes to bronzers. To truly contour, you need an ashy-toned (preferably matte) bronze or brown shade. Anything with shimmer (like these shades) will make the hollows of the cheek look swollen rather than sunken. So, products like this one are designed to be applied just to the apples of the cheek (for color) or the highest part of the cheekbone (for highlight).

I was so impressed by these shades. They’re all really pretty and very pigmented. The top two shades are a white and a champagne highlighter. I was initially a bit scared of how white the white one was, but it blends so well and has a very luminous, ethereal finish. It wasn’t chalky or garish at all. The champagne one was lovely and added a nice glow without being too warm. The bottom two shades were blushes: one rosy and one bronze. They’re also really pigmented but blendable and will compliment most skin tones with a bold pop of color.

As far as texture goes, these are very smooth. However, they contain some rather chunky glitter, and I know that’s not what everyone prefers. However, I love this palette when I want to really stand out. It’s not the most neutral, daytime palette. This one is geared towards night drama instead!

Overall, I adored this palette, although I admit the price is a bit steep for something that’s a special occasion and not a daily palette (still, powders last a long time before they need replacing).

Is this one you’ve tried or are interested in trying? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section!
