Wander Beauty Wanderlust Powder Foundation

Summer is in full swing, and with this extreme heat has come a change in my skin texture. Every year, it seems like my skin gets very dry in the winter and very oily in the summer, and this year has been no different. As I’ve worked to keep the oil at bay, I’ve found a new favorite powder foundation: the Wander Beauty Wanderlust Powder Foundation. This product can be purchased at Sephora and similar retailers for $40.

I don’t always love powder foundations – they often look cakey and the powder can settle into pores and fine lines. Some also tend to wash me out, which sucks since I’m already so pale. Thankfully, this powder performs like a dream. The texture is very fine, which makes it feel very lightweight. It also applies very smoothly and seems to instantly blur my imperfections. The shade range includes the shade “light” which matches my skin tone perfectly.

This is actually a relatively hydrating powder, which is one of the reasons that I think it balances my skin out so well. The powder absorbs the oil, but the hydrating quality (caused by the aloe ingredient) prevents the product from settling too much and looking overly noticeable.

The coverage of this product is also fantastic. I can’t believe how much one swipe can cover. Occasionally, I use this over a lightweight foundation, but it also works really well by itself. I find that most powder foundations really can’t stand on their own, but this one truly does what it’s supposed to do.

I have no regrets about this purchase, and I definitely plan to repurchase when I’ve used this one up!

Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks

I’m obsessed with the skin underneath my eyes. I want to avoid crow’s feet as long as possible, so I’m very diligent about eye cream, sunscreen (also, avoiding the sun), plus not tugging at the skin when removing eye makeup. I’m always excited when I’m sent new eye products, and recently I had the chance to try the Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks. You can get 6 pairs of these single-use masks for $25 at Sephora and similar retailers.

My first impression of this product is that the size is ridiculous. The pads are way too big for the undereye area, so I had to maneuver them really carefully to get them on the skin underneath my eyes without them getting too close to my actual eye. This was extra difficult since they were so big and bulky.

I was, however, pleased that they really stayed in place. You’re supposed to keep them on for about 10-15 minutes. I left them on for about 20-25, and they never fell off as I did some work around the apartment. Other eye masks I’ve tried were so slimy and weird that I had to recline with my head back the entire time to keep them from falling off, so this was a welcome change.

In terms of results, I was a bit underwhelmed. My undereye area seemed a bit more moisturized afterwards, but that was about it. It contains lavender and aloe to soothe the undereye, but I felt like a lot of eye creams I use depuff better than this. There’s also hyaluronic acid for moisture and anti-aging effects, but that’s something you’d need to track over time, and I’m not sure this would be the best everyday product when there are plenty of great eye creams with hyaluronic acid that would be more affordable for daily use.

Overall, I definitely won’t be purchasing these, but I do think they could be a fun addition for a girls’-night-in spa party since the gold foil looks pretty fancy!

Wander Beauty Lipstick

Lipstick just pulls a look together! It adds a pop of color to your appearance, even if it’s a neutral – it still adds color to your lips to make you look more alive. Recently I received a sample of Wander Beauty Lipstick. These are purchasable from Sephora for $30 but they come in duos so you’ll be getting a neutral and a brighter/darker shade too. The one I have is a mauve neutral called “Barely There.”

I really love this product! This lipstick is light and easy to apply. One little swoosh will apply it easily and evenly to your lips. It has a nice opacity for a neutral shade. The finish is definitely matte but it doesn’t appear dry at all nor does it physically dry out the lips. The lasting power is pretty average, so you’ll definitely have to reapply after eating, but I think the pros far outweigh the cons in this particular lipstick.

I’m the type of person who tends to stick with very bold colors: bright pinks, reds, and berries. So, I’m stunned by how much I like this neutral shade. I think that using this lipstick has taught me that my ideal neutral is a mauve shade instead the other variations of neutrals: true nudes, very light pinks, browns, etc. So, I also appreciate this lipstick for helping me learn that.

I definitely plan to buy the full size of this product when my sample runs out, and I’m excited to try the burgundy shade that this one comes with in its duo. I can’t say that I wear burgundy lips often, but I think it will be perfect for fall. Since it’s paired with my ideal neutral, I have high hopes that it will be perfect for me too.
