New Year, New Me

I can’t believe it’s already the first day of 2019! I’ll admit that 2018 was a difficult one for me, but I’m so ready to let it go and move forward. So, I wanted to publicly put my resolutions forward in order to be held accountable.

Resolution 1: Create New Content

I love posting here on Haute Couture Society! I know it’s just a small blog, but it’s meaningful to me and I have enjoyed interacting with readers. So, I resolve to post Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with bonus Sunday vlogs.

Resolution 2: Focus on Health

My weight has been a big source of unhappiness for me. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had an unhealthy relationship with both food and my body. I really want to focus on being a healthier person in 2019 – eating right, exercising, but also accepting the limitations of my body and not equating self-worth with physical appearance.

Resolution 3: Finish My Novel

Last year, after finishing my MFA in creative writing, I started a romantic suspense novel. For me, the biggest roadblock to writing is my insecurity. I find myself constantly judging what I’m writing, which leads to a lot of second-guessing. This year, I want to just enjoy the process of writing and hold off on judging until I get to the editing phase.

What are your resolutions? I’d love to know, so please feel free to share in the comment section!

Thanks for reading!

I can’t believe that it’s already 2017. Last year flew by! There were a lot of highs and lows, and I definitely grew as a person. I know that I still have a long way to go when it comes to working on myself, so I wanted to use this first post of 2017 to record a few goals so I can hopefully be kept accountable this year:

  1. I want to focus more on my physical health. I’ve definitely gained a lot of weight since college and I don’t exercise regularly. I don’t want to make a really specific goal when it comes to weight loss because I have a tendency to be drawn to extremes (something I’d like to avoid). Instead, I’ll say that I’d like to work out three times a week and make a more concentrated effort to eat healthier foods and drink more water.
  2. I definitely still need to work on my anxiety. I am an extrovert and I love being around people, but sometimes I get really scared of new situations and new environments. I wonder sometimes how many great moments I’ve missed out on because of my fear. I also wonder if I’ve maybe inadvertently pushed away friends by giving into my anxiety and staying home so often. I also tend to get anxious when I obsess over things like my day job. I think that compartmentalizing aspects of my life and putting their importance in perspective will further help me to lessen my anxiety. When it comes to my anxiety, I don’t really know if I can make a very specific goal here either, but I would like to give in less to the anxiety and to find ways to manage it better.
  3. I want to be more productive when it comes to my fiction writing. While I love writing this blog and sharing product reviews (something I’ll definitely continue doing), my main goal is to write novels. I want to make sure that I spend time every single day working on my fiction projects.

Well, I think those are the big three for this year! I hope that 2017 can be much better than 2016. Do you have any goals for the new year? If so, please feel free to share them in the comments section. I’d love to know!
